摘要
To improve the narrow viewing angle characteristics of TFT-LCDs, domain-divided twisted nematic panels (DDTN) were investigated. A viewing angle of +/-80 degrees (contrast ratio > 5) in normally black mode with retardation films was obtained. Also, polymer-dispersed LCDs with crossed Nicols and a uniaxial retardation film (PDN) were developed. The TFT-LCD produced a high-contrast display, with no brightness level inversion among the gray scales regardless of the viewing direction.
