Weft-knitted 1 x 1 rib-fabrics are manufactured from E-glass rovings and are consolidated into flat panels using the resin transfer molding (RTM) process. The panels, with about 50% fiber volume fraction, are tested for their mechanical properties in tension, flexure, compression, and short-beam shear. The property values are reported and the failure mechanisms under different loading conditions are identified and compared. The elastic properties of the knitted composites are analyzed by geometric modeling followed by the finite element analysis (FEA). Good predictions are obtained.
