INTESTINAL INFECTIONS CAUSED BY ANAEROBIC-BACTERIA

The anaerobic intestinal flora of the pig is very varied and contains numerous species both non-pathogenic and pathogenic. The latter cause diarrhoea, of variable severity, due to toxins or by invasion of the intestinal wall Some bacteria are at the origin of very specific diseases. This-article summarises the recent data concerning enteritis of spirochaete origin, other than that caused by Serpulina hyodysenteria, and the << colitis >> syndrome, both of which are found above air after weaning and during fattening. The enteritis caused by Clostridium perfringens A and C, which are seen more often in the neonate, are also described.
