摘要
imagePRO is powerful general purpose interactive digital image processing package developed by C-DAC to work on its transputer based advanced computing hardware platforms. The package is designed to run on single as well as multiple transputers. It consists of a wide range of image processing algorithms like simple preprocessing operations to moderately complex operations like texture analysis and computer vision. Equipped with an excellent user interface, imagePRO allows the user to perform these operations interactively. This paper describes briefly the imagePRO package, its implementation on transputer network and its salient features. It also presents the performance results of some of the imagePRO functions run on single transputer (1T) and four transputer (4T) versions. These results prove beyond doubt that for most of the point and neighborhood image processing operations, the transputer network gives a near liner performance improvement with increase in number of transputers.
