Biological test of colonies isolated from different samples (organs, drinking water, feed, hatching eggs, etc.), suspicious for Salmonella was carried out at a regional Veterinary Institute. The colonies identified Salmonella were sent for serotyping to the National Food Control Institute. According to investigations carried out in the last 10 years details on the number of Salmonella cases, variations among different animal species, the percentage of samples and Salmonella serotypes are summarized in Tables 1 to 6. It the samples of organs salmonellosis was diagnosed most frequently in calves (0;79%), less frequently in water fowl (0.44%). The lowest incidence was observed in pigs (0.24%). During the feed examinations, the incidence of Salmonella positive cases was 1.13% and 0.18% in case of basic feeds of animal origin (meat- and blood-meals, etc.) and mixed feeds, respectively. In all, 25 Salmonella serotypes were found. The distribution of Salmonella serotypes were, as follows: S. enteritidis 38%, S. typhimurium 35%, S. lagos 7%, S. infant's 5%, S. agona and S. choleraesuis 3%, other serotypes 9%.
