摘要：
The Proceedings of the National Science Foundation Workshop on the Molecular Engineering of Ultrathin Polymeric Films, published in this issue of Thin Solid Films, are reviewed to assess the current state of the art and future research needs. Based on the discussions at the workshop, a list of research needs in the molecular engineering of ultrathin organic and polymeric films is presented.
