Focusing on the plight of children in the face of HIV and AIDS, the essay provides some statistical and other detail on the scope and scale of the problem before entering into a description of two exemplary programmes. Th ese are the UNICEF Global Campaign for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), and the Giving Hope programme in East Africa.
