摘要
This study aims to broaden curricular interpretations of local/regional history teaching, and seeks renewed understanding of the study of memory, of heritage buildings and of the conditions necessary for the awarding of heritage status. In Lapa it is possible to see in heritage buildings and monuments that local and regional memory is transformed into a type of ever present document, which can express temporalities and cultural meanings, identities and ideologies. It is understood that memory can serve to promote ideological institutionalization, as can be seen in the discipline of the scientific study of history. For this reason it is essential to have a full understanding of historical production, of ideological discourse and of the symbols which institutionalize memory, thereby making it memorable. In the analysis of regional historical production the focal historical event was the Siege of Lapa. This was symbolized as a landmark victory of the Republican Federalists over the Maragato revolutionaries, a landmark in history repeatedly commemorated and made sacred by the preservationist narrative of Lapa's historic heritage buildings.
