NUCLEAR-QUADRUPOLE RESONANCE OF NB-93 AND PIEZOELECTRIC RESONANCE IN LINBO3 SINGLE-CRYSTAL

The temperature dependence of the Nb-93 nuclear quadrupole resonance and the piezoelectric resonance have been investigated in a congruent LiNbO3 single crystal grown by the Czochralski method. The resonance linewidths of the transitions v(3)(7/2-->5/2) and v(4)(9/2-->7/2) measured with the single crystal were observed to be nearly one eighth of those reported for the stoichiometric powder. The temperature dependence of the nuclear quadrupole coupling constant (e(2)qQ/h) of Nb-93 in the temperature range from 77 K to 300 K turned out to be slightly different from that obtained with powder. The piezoelectric resonance signal from the same crystal was also identified by being uninfluenced by the external magnetic field, whereas the Nb-93 NQR lines were shifted and broadened due to the magnetic field.
