JIGSAWS - INTRODUCTION TO THE SPECIAL ISSUE ON METHODOLOGICAL ISSUES IN CLINICAL CHILD-PSYCHOLOGY RESEARCH

Provides an overview of articles in this Special Issue on Methodological Issues in Clinical Child Psychology Research, Journal of Clinical Child Psychology. Articles addressing child psychotherapy outcome research reevaluate the methodological quality of previous studies; suggest coping strategies for researchers in this difficult area; and describe important new directions, including long-term follow-up. Methodological issues in using the major methods of measurement (structured interview, behavioral observation, and rating scales) and in using qualitative analysis are detailed. The role of ethnicity in relation to clinical child concerns is addressed, and this special issue closes with thoughts about writing and editing child psychology research.
