ANATOMY AND SYSTEMATICS OF IRIDACEAE

A general description of leaf anatomy in Iridaceae is given, and the importance of leaf anatomical characters for the systematics of the family is assessed by means of a cladistic analysis utilizing characters from morphology, anatomy and biochemisty. Although there is high homoplasy amongst both morphological and anatomical characters, leaf anatomy provides some significant data for Iridaceae systematics, especially at the tribal level.
