摘要
In the recent years in Poland, it has been observed an increase in number of tourists traveling to countries with different sanitary and climate conditions, which involves high risk of importing to our country tropical diseases, which had been registered in Poland sporadically. The aim of this study was to focus primary care doctors' attention on necessity of including imported parasitic invasions in differential diagnosis in people coming back from tropical countries with fever or diarrhea. In the study, the most frequent domestic (trichinellosis and echinococccosis) and tropical (malaria, leishmaniasis) parasitic infections are described, which may involve life-threatening conditions and a risk of severe multi-functional complications in their clinical course. Conclusions. 1. Lately, primary care doctors have started to consider exotic diseases in differential diagnoses more often, but it is still not sufficient. Hence there is a need for continuing education in this subject. 2. Fast diagnosis and usage of proper antiparasitic treatment, decreases an intensity and severity of clinical symptoms efficiently.
