This article addressed the importance of continuing medical education in online environments and how this can be reflected in medical practice. If the teaching presence in an environment is a difficult task, due to lack of teacher training of medical teachers, in an online environment that provides an impetus to continuous medical training, the challenge is greater because the resistance and lack of specific training for act in an interactive environment obstacles are constant. The online education contributes not only as a possible means of access to new information, as resources allow through the Telemedicine and professionals who are far from major research centers have access to this process of continuing education. Present the definition and importance of continuing medical education, its effect on the service to the public, the role of the doctor acting as a teacher and how this work, to become a teacher, is to act and be prepared to perform activities in online environments. Finally, we analyze the contributions that the Telemedicine systems bring to the process of continuing medical education.
