CRYSTAL ENGINEERING IN 2 DIMENSIONS - CLOSE-PACKING APPLIED TO A LANGMUIR-BLODGETT-FILM

摘要
The closepacking principle, well-established for molecular crystals, is applied to a model for two-dimensional lattices previously reported by Skabardonis and Sukenik11 for [22.3.3]propellanes. Atom-atom potential calculations for two propellane films predict a phase of planar group p2gg, in contrast to previous predictions, but support previous conclusions regarding the effect of amphiphile conformational change on lattice parameters. Formation and possible applications of different planar lattices by various amphiphiles are discussed.
