QUANTITATIVE MAGNETOOPTICAL KERR EFFECT ON TITANOMAGNETITES

摘要
A new application of the magneto-optical Kerr effect is presented, which will allow, in the future, a semi- or fully quantitative analysis of the magnetization direction at every point of a (titano)magnetite surface. The stress-dominated anisotropy of Ti-rich titanomagnetites requires determination of all three components (M(x), M(y) and M(z)) of the magnetization M. An adequate way to determine the three components could be the application of the polar, longitudinal and transverse Kerr effects.
