Within a period of two years, a testing plant with circulation fluidized bed combustion was prepared and realized at Dresden, which started operation in 1989. The thermal output of the plant is about 4 MW. Design and size of the plant offer the possibility of intensive and varied experimental investigations, as well as a high degree of verification of the operational results. The design of the testing plant is described, and ideas and possibilities of experimental investigations are presented.
