摘要：

The salutary effect of the founding of the Journal of Vocational Behavior on our science is analyzed and the important role of Samuel H. Osipow in founding the journal is recognized. In spite of the progress made in the last 20 years, a number of mistakes continue to occur with great regularity. Five recommendations made by the authors of articles in this commemorative series are underscored as a means of providing guidance for the improvement of future research and theoretical efforts. © 1991.
