Two different (square-root 2 x 5 square-root 2)R45-degrees iodine adlattices on Pt(100) were observed by STM in air. One of these was also resolved in electrolyte solution under potential control. Within small indentations of two- or three-atomic-layer depth, another adlattice structure was found.
