EFFECTIVENESS OF ANTISMOKE FUEL ADDITIVES AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON GASEOUS EMISSIONS FROM DIESEL-ENGINES

摘要：
The smoke suppressant fuel additives, viz. metal based barium and calcium compounds, have been used on a single cylinder stationary engine and a multicylinder automotive engine. The additives show good smoke reducing properties. A reduction of 50-60% in smoke emission has been observed. The use of additives has resulted in a slight increase in the emission of nitric oxide. The hydrocarbon emissions are observed to increase with additives for a precombustion chamber engine.
