MINORITY LANGUAGES AND LANGUAGE ATTITUDES: CATALAN AND KASHUBIAN

In this article, in first place, we will observe the problems of the linguistic diversity treated from the area of Catalan linguistics and think about the presence of the Slavic endangered languages in the Catalan linguistic studies and Spaniards in general. In second place, we will present the research about the linguistic attitudes that we carried out in the year 2003 in Poland in the Cashubian zone of Pomerania. Our aim is to observe the attitudes of the Cashubians towards their language and the motivations to maintain it before the change of its legal status in Poland, in 2005. Taking these results into account, we will finish the article with observations about the current changes in the perception of the language and the future of the Cashubian language.
