摘要：
Two fishes of the family Megalomycteridae are reported from off Madeira; the first time this family has been recorded in the NE Atlantic. The specimens generally agree with the generic description of Ataxolepis, but raise doubt over the validity of the characters used to separate the taxa within the family.
