When the rage turns on

There's no such thing as society, there are individual men and women and there are families, the British ex Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher declared thirty years ago. From this statement it follows that there would individuals that, in a selfish way look after themselves, and in doing so, contribute to the Empire's wealth. Last summer riots (2011th) in the United Kingdom insist precisely on the contrary. The statement of the conservative ex-leader turns out now as a cynic statement; the recent violent riots are an echo of the hidden premises of the conservative ideology, which are the "return to basics" encouraged by the political campaigns of this party during the 80's, that suppose the well known celebration of the family, the hard work and individuality, as well as its corollary of satisfaction of tribal and territorial instincts. It could be also added an ideological effect which represents the social and the economic affairs as a time condition: it does incite people to abdicate their political responsibility to maintain that there is nothing to do, just adapt.
