LOW-DENSITY POLYETHYLENE (LDPE) AND ETHYLENE-VINYL ACETATE (EVA) COPOLYMER BLENDS AS CABLE INSULANTS

Base materials for heat-resistant cable insulant have been developed from blends of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer containing 28% VA and low-density polyethylene. Various electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties of these blends have been studied. These blends are categorised as insulating materials having a temperature rating of around 120-135-degrees-C, which puts them between heat-resistant insulation based on EPDM (rating temperature 85-90-degrees-C) and super-heat-resistant insulant based on silicone (rating temperature 150-degrees-C).
