NA8HG3 - AN ALKALI-METAL RICH AMALGAM WITH ISOLATED MERCURY ANIONS

摘要
Die Strukturchemie des neuen, luftempfindlichen, silbermetallischen Amalgams Na8Hg3 ist charakterisiert durch isolierte Hg‐Atome mit ungewöhnlich großen interatomaren Abständen (d(HgHg) > 5 Å, „Quecksilberanionen”?). Diese bilden hexagonale Netze, welche topologisch nach Art einer dichtesten Kugelpackung angeordnet sind. Die Stapelfolge alterniert zwischen kubisch und hexagonal. Natriumatome füllen alle Oktaederlücken und 5/6 der Tetraederlücken dieser „lockeren Dichtestpackung” von Quecksilber. Spezifische Verzerrungen der Kristallstruktur werden auf der Basis dieses idealisierten Bildes diskutiert. Copyright © 1990 Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim
