A biosensor for the analysis of hydrogen peroxide. A biosensor has been developed for quick and selective measurements of hydrogen peroxide. The sensor is made of carbon paste containing in its bulk a redox mediator and the peroxidase. The advantages of such a structure are that the surface of the sensor can be easily renewable by simple scratching on a paper surface and that the enzyme and the mediator are kept in close vicinity which allows the electron transfer to occur. Different parameters have been studied in order to optimize the response of the biosensor. This sensor can be used for quick determination (30s) of hydrogen peroxide in the concentration range of 10(6) to 2 10(-4) M. The signal is stable for more than 1.5 year.
