WORK RELATED DISEASES AMONG SANITATION WORKERS OF NEW-YORK-CITY

Sanitation workers are involved in an occupation with many physical stresses and are continuously exposed to hazardous conditions. In a study controlled with closely matched relatives, it was found that the incidence of hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, duodenal ulcer, bronchitis, back-ache and inguinal hernia were higher among retired sanitation workers.
