The level of the inclusion complex between beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CD) and d-limonene in a pure beta-CD and beta-CD/maltodextrin mixed powder was measured by X-ray diffraction. The relative integral intensity at 2-theta = 5-7-degrees and 11-12-degrees correlated well with the molar fraction of d-limonene to the total moles of beta-CD and the maltodextrin mixture. Solid state C-13-CP/MAS NMR results correlated well with those by X-ray diffraction.
