NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING OF THE HEAT-RESISTANCE OF CUTTING TOOLS

摘要
The article suggests a nondestructive method of testing the heat resistance of tools. Its essence consists basically in recording the flux of characteristic K-radiation of tungsten contained in high-speed steels. At the instant a tool is heated, structural transformations bring about a change of concentration of tungsten in the carbide phase. X-ray fluorescence of tungsten is excited by gamma quanta of a radionuclide.
