摘要
Thin-plate splines are an attractive method for interpolating and smoothing arbitrarily spaced points in the plane. A major problem in the application of thin-plate splines is that their computation involves the solution of a linear system that is ill-conditioned for large data sets. A technique for preconditioning the system is proposed that greatly extends the usefulness of thin-plate splines.
