From Reality to Utopia: an Incursion into the Life and Work of Orlando Fals Borda

This document proposes three central aspects: a) Orlando Fats Barda's personal and intellectual life passed from reality to utopia; b) his education in sociology was not only disciplinary but also a platform from which he forayed into complex dimensions of Colombian sociopolitical reality; and c) the investigations he undertook were not only an intellectual exercise but also marked his individual, family and political life. The article ends with a reflection: life and scientific workcan move in the same direction as commitment to society.
