NATURAL-CONVECTION IN INCLINED ENCLOSURES WITH MULTIPLE CONDUCTING PARTITIONS

Laminar natural convection and conduction in inclined enclosures having multiple partitions with finite thickness and conductivity have been studied theoretically. The governing equations are solved using finite difference formulation and a volume control method. The study covers the range of Ra from 10(3) to 10(7), Phi from 0 to 180 deg, A = H/W from 1 to 20, B = w/W from 0.1 to 0.9, C = l/W from 0.01 to 0.1, and the thermal conductivity ratio of partition to fluid k(r) from 1 to 10(4). The partition number N was varied from 1 to 5, The Prandtl number was 0.72 (for air), The results are reduced in terms of Nu as a function of Ra, k(r), Phi, and various geometrical parameters (A, B, C), The streamlines and isotherms are produced to visualize the flow and temperature fields.
