BURDEN OF THE MAIN FAMILY CAREGIVER IN PEDIATRIC PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE ACCORDING TO THE ZARIT SCALE

In Venezuela, there are currently many cases in Venezuela of people suffering from chronic kidney disease. Such condition, not only affected the sufferer but also their families. In view of this, the objective of this research was to characterize the burden of the main family caregiver in pediatric patients with chronic kidney disease. This study was framed under the positivist paradigm. It is a descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional design. The population was made up of eleven (11) family caregivers -who do not receive any economic compensation- of renal patients who attended their monthly control at the Pediatric Hospital. With previous consent, The Scale de Zarit questionnaire, consisting of 22 questions with a response scale type Likert, was applied to them. The results show that, according to the scale of the instrument, 27% have intense burden, 9% have slight burden and it is concluded that 64% have no burden.
