摘要
Garnethill in central Glasgow has recently been nominated for a United Nations award. The ''we the peoples: 50 communities of the world'' award was set up by the UN in an attempt to involve citizens and communities in celebrations, marking the 50th anniversary of the United Nations in 1995. The nomination for this award is a reflection of Garnethill's ability to project an identity for itself via community events. This paper discusses the context leading to this nomination and raises questions about how the production of place images can help in addressing social issues such as racism and can help in gaining city-wide resources.
