摘要
Western businesses have responded to increased competitive pressure with a number of quality initiatives. The most recent is total quality management (TQM) This paper traces the evolution of TQM from traditional quality management, and its diffusion through various sectors of the economy. The aspects of TQM that have been studied in the academic literature are summarized and areas for further study are suggested.
