摘要
Purpose: The aim of this study is to evaluate the results of photodynamic therapy (PDT) in patients with polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV). Methods: Visual acuity testing, ophthalmological examination, color photographs, fluorescein and indocyanine green angiographies were used to evaluate the results of PDT. Follow up examination were scheduled at 1 and 3 months after the treatment and then 3 months apart. Retreatments were considered when leakage was observed at 3 months after the treatment and thereafter. Results: Five eyes of 5 patients with polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy were enrolled. Follow up ranged from 12 to 30 months. Baseline mean visual acuity was 0,62 +/- 0,2 logMAR, 0,46 +/- 0,2 by 1 and 3 months, 0,42 +/- 0,3 by 6 months, 0,42 +/- 0,3 by 12 months. At the end of 1 year, there was no change in visual acuity in 2 (40%) patients, and 1 or 6 lines increase in 3 (60%) patients, there was no visual acuity decrease regarding to baseline measurements. Conclusions: This study showed that PDT could stabilize visual acuity in patients with PCV.
