Reliability Computation for a Gas Pipeline Beam Section with Cracklike Defects

摘要
In the context of the theory of random variables, a mathematical model is obtained for the probability of the nondestruction of a gas pipeline beam section in the presence of a longitudinal crack, which is located by means of pigging. A solution is obtained for the case when the fracture toughness of pipe steel, its physical and mechanical characteristics, loads, and the pipeline dimensions are normally distributed. An allowable mathematical expectation of the crack length is found for which the standard pipeline reliability and operational safety for the remainder of the service life are provided.
