摘要
Failures in project management translate into deviations in scope, within or cost affecting the profitability and feasibility of projects. Certain studies, such as those operated by Tao (2008), Dey, Kinch & Ogunlana (2007) and Chittister (1993) point out that one of the main risks in software development is associated with risks related to technical failures. As a consequence, projects have a completion date postponed to the date planned. As suggested in this article, risk management, contributing to the reduction of technical risks, to increase collaborates rate projects delivered on time completion planned. Given this context, this study aims to discuss the results of the use of risk management techniques employed in technical software development projects by a Brazilian market leader in Information Technology. Based on this approach are indicated factors that contributed to the reduction in the rate of diversion of time for completion of projects in the period 2005-2012. The results indicate that after the use of new techniques for employing qualified personnel in order to reduce delays hitherto occurred based on the adoption of technical project management in the construction of a historical basis for projects and the use of techniques for estimating activities in technical risk management, the company increased the percentage of projects delivered within 58.71% in 2005 to 70.70% in 2012. The results showed that a significant reduction in delays and cancellations of projects from new policies adopted under a significance level of 5%.
