CONTRIBUTION OF THE LIGHT-BY-LIGHT SCATTERING DIAGRAMS TO THE HYPERFINE SPLITTING IN MUONIUM AND HYDROGEN

摘要
An expression is obtained for the radiative correction to the hyperfine splitting of order alpha-2 (Z-alpha) induced by the insertion of a light-by-light scattering block in external photons. The new contribution has the value -0.48213...[alpha-2(Z-alpha)/pi]E(F) in units of the Fermi hyperfine-splitting energy E(F). Numerically, the correction is -0.26 kHz for muonium and -0.084 kHz for hydrogen.
