Four badger (Meles meles) setts (three <<outliers>> and one <<subsidiary sett>>) were excavated and mapped. The three outliers had one or two entrances and consisted of simple tunnel systems 2.1, 6.1 and 7.5 m long respectively. Each of the two larger outliers also contained a single chamber with nest material (dry grass). The subsidiary sett had 31 entrances (16 disused) and consisted of a complex intersecting tunnel network 215 m long, with 12 chambers, 23 lots of bedding material and 1 latrine. None of the setts was deeper than 1.5 m.
