Measurements have been made of the magnetoresistivity ρ{variant}xx of 2D electrons on liquid helium in the fluid phase for temperatures T below 1 K, in magnetic fields up to 4 T. Strong magnetoresistance is observed for h{stroke}ωc/kT ≤ 10, where ωc is the cyclotron frequency. We find that ρ{variant}xx/ρ{variant}0 is a function of h{stroke}ωc/kT and suggest that this is due to the inelastic nature of the electron-ripplon scattering. © 1990.
