STUDIES CONCERNING THE OPTIMIZATION OF DIALYSATE CONSUMPTION

As a continuation of an earlier study, the relation between total mass drainage and total dialysate consumption during a dialysis treatment is studied here. It is again found that a suitable operating condition is to have equal blood and dialysate flows, and that with a reasonable prolongation of treatment time, the same total mass drainage results as for a higher dialysate flow rate, but with a much lower total dialysate consumption.
