摘要
The article approaches Jose de la Luz y Caballero's conceptions about responsibility and freedom. In its analysis, the authors have revealed the essence of Luz's postulates about the factors that intervene in the formation of ethical and patriotic values in the youths. The main objective was to disclose the remarkable Cuban teacher's efforts to develop and to apply in educational practice new concepts and principles that exert a direct influence in youth's ideological formation, starting from the fulfillment of duty and responsibility, as an indispensable condition to traverse for the road that leads to human freedom.
