摘要
A stress singularity of type Krδ (δ < 0) exists at the interface corner between bonded elastic quarter planes. The intensity of this stress singularity, referred to here as the free-edge stress intensity factory Kf, characterizes the magnitude of the stress state in the region of the interface corner. The value of Kf has been fully determined for a thin elastic layer (L/h > 20) bonded to rigid adherends and subjected to either transverse tension or a uniform temperature change. Specifically, Kf = σ*h1 -λ A(v), where σ* is a characteristic stress, 2h is layer thickness, and λ -1 is the order of the stress singularity. The parameters 1 -A, and A depend only on Poisson's ratio v, and their values are tabulated and plotted. The reported relation for Kf is applicable to both plane strain and axisymmetric geometries. © 1990.
