Survey Results of the Archaeological Sites around Nasice in 2006

In 2006, experts from the Institute of Archaeology in Zagreb and the Native Museum in Nasice, along with external associates, carried out the first systematic survey of the archaeological sites in the outer western part covered by the Native Museum of Nasice, which is related to the cadastral municipalities of Fericanci, Beljevina and Boksic. Within the period of two weeks, 18 sites were registered, reaching from Prehistory and the Antiquity up to the Middle Ages. 4 finds of stone axes with handle holes were registered (Fericanci-citluk and Zgone, Beljevina-Gaj and Boksic-Gajic), dated from the Neolithic until the early Bronze Age. Prehistoric ceramics were found on three sites (Boksic-Jazvanci and CPS, Boksic Lug-Grede), Antique ceramics on two (Fericanci-Brkicev arman and Boksic-Pod secom), and most frequent were the finds of Medieval ceramics (Fericanci-Maljuge and Grgasevci, Beljevina-Zajcevke and Kod groblja, as well as Boksic-Brestina, Jazvanci, Staro selo, Pod secom, Krivaca, Zavrsetak Osjecke ulice and Gajic). We regard the first phase of the systematic survey as successful, and hod the opinion that it is necessary to continue this type of research in stages.
