ENRICHING HEALTH-CARE AND HEALTH-CARE RESEARCH - A FEMINIST PERSPECTIVE

The authors discuss the need to incorporate a feminist approach into health care and health care research. They describe the concept of feminism and examine differences between feminist research and conventional research. They explore briefly the failure of current health research to address women's issues, and they offer some new directions. Also they consider some implications of feminist thought for the practice of medicine and conclude that the current emphasis on objectivity at the expense of caring and compassion limits the effectiveness of current medical practice and research.
