OBSERVATION OF MAGNETIC FOCUSING IN 2-DIMENSIONAL HOLE SYSTEMS

We report the first observation of transverse magnetic hole focusing in high quality two-dimensional hole systems confined in square and triangular quantum wells grown on (311) A GaAs substrates. The results demonstrate ballistic hole transport over distances up to 11 mum and allow us to probe the constant energy contours in k-space for these two types of confinement.
