摘要
Multiple attribute decision-making (MADM) is an inevitable part of our daily life, and widely used in managerial, economics and constructional problems. This study presents a new approach, i.e. the intuitionistic fuzzy technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution method to solve MADM problems. Since a linguistic term is closer to human cognitive process, it is more convenient and realistic for the decision-makers to use linguistic terms such as Very low, Low, Medium low, etc. for the importance of weight of attributes. Furthermore, the linguistic terms such as Very poor, Poor, Medium poor, etc. will be used to represent the rating of different alternatives under the given set of attributes in an MADM problem. The Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy sets, a combination of membership and nonmembership function, is one of the most suitable tools to deal with the uncertainty incurred in human decision-making in real-life situations. Therefore, the linguistic terms used to represent the importance weight of attributes and rating of alternatives have been assigned the corresponding triangular intuitionistic fuzzy number. Finally, the proposed technique is demonstrated by taking an example of supplier selection in supply chain management for a watch company.
