A critical analysis is made of a theoretical expression for the resistivity of liquid metals based on the weak electron -ion interaction approximation. It is shown that the one-component plasma (OCP) model can be used in describing the ionic subsystem of a liquid metal. Numerical calculations establish the fundamental importance of the choice of model for the electron - ion interaction pseudo-potential and the small influence of exchange-correlation effects on the resistivity of liquid lithium. When the Krasko - Gurskii pseudopotential is used, the difference between the calculated results and empirical data for the resistivity of liquid lithium along the saturation line is several percent.
