TWO-DIMENSIONAL PROBLEM OF THE THEORY OF ELASTICITY FOR AN ORTHOTROPIC BODY OF FINITE DIMENSIONS

A method of solving the first and mixed problems of the two-dimensional theory of elasticity of an orthotropic body in terms of displacements is proposed. Solutions are presented with the aid of R-functions in the form of structural formulas, taking exactly into account all the boundary conditions. The formulas set up contain some arbitrary functions selected from the condition of optimally satisfying the differential equations within the region. The search for indefinite functions is realized by the Ritz method. Results of numerical investigations are presented.
