摘要
This study was carried out to analyze the relationship between socioeconomic conditions and desires of tourist destinations in Brazil, this study was conducted to determine whether socioeconomic data, reported in the PNUD report (2000), may interfere with the short term decision of the household population to make tourism in Brazil. For this analysis, the most desirable destinations in Brazil we considered, according to data available in the Ministerio do Turismo relative to 2006. The theoretical framework addressed two main topics: 1) tourism and its importance to local development 2) marketing and image of tourist destinations. After collecting the data, the following constructs were created: education, health, income, housing and demography. The tests used to analyze the relationship between variables were: the Spearman correlation and the Chi-square. The findings showed no significant relationship between the constructs and the desire of Brazilian tourists. From the results, it seems to be possible to infer that the socioeconomic conditions are not important factors to explain the population's desire for sightseeing at the national level in a short time.
